SMASHPROOF discussion on RNZ:

I know i posted a link to this earlier, but i just listened to it for the first time, courtesy of a CD sent to me by the Music 101 crew. It makes for an interesting listen, so I thought I would upload it all here for everyone to check out...

Here's what i wrote about it in my earlier post...

Local music legend and all round nice guy, Trevor Reekie; has dedicated a segment on Music 101 to Smashproof's chart success. The show goes to air this Saturday after the news at 2pm and features an in depth interview with me (Kirk Harding) alongside some important ethnomusicology and chart experts.

R.I.P. Michael Joseph Jackson

AMMENDED June 27th.

Check out these charts from iTunes U.S. Wow!

A statement from Quincy Jones:

"I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news. For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words.

Divinity brought our souls together on The Wiz and allowed us to do what we were able to throughout the 80's.

To this day, the music we created together on "Off The Wall," "Thriller" and "Bad" is played in every corner of the world and the reason for that is because he had it all…talent, grace, professionalism and dedication.

He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever."

NESIAN MYSTIK make history:

Congrat's to the Nesian boys. Their new single "RSVP" entered the top ten on the NZ singles chart this week, making this the fourth consecutive single from their album 'Elevator Musiq' to do so.

But more importantly, "RSVP" marks the acts tenth Top 10 single entries from a total of eleven chart appearances. Which means that they now have the most Top 10 hits in New Zealand music history. Nesians have made the highest rungs more times than any other Kiwis.

Hip Hop is holding it down in the annals of NZ music history, which is a great thing.

But what's up with that photo tho'? LOL! Cats look mad happy!

The BLOG has been slow because...

I was diagnosed with having Carpal Tunnel Syndrome a couple of weeks ago, which made it very hard to type in general. It was hard enough just typing during the day during my day job, let alone getting busy on here and tending to my burdgeoning screenplay.

But the discomfort seems to have subsided now that i have garnered some ergonomic computerware.

So here comes the blog-a-thon...

It's Been A Long Time... MTC update:

Where do i begin? Hrrmmm? Lets see...

The Smashproof boys are set to get back in the lab to finish off Young Sids second album and to commence work on Tyree's next solo album. Deach will of course be working on new music along the way, but he will be focused on assisting the boys on their solo sets firstly. Emile is producing the majority of Sids album and Australian production duo Twice As Nice are at the helm for Ty's album.

"Brother" is slowly and surely starting to get airplay across the the Tasman, with support coming in from a lot of community radio stations and video networks. So a big thank you goes out to them for being early believers.

We have also been working on deals for Smashproof further abroad, so expect to see some Northern hemisphere action in the very near future.

We are almost set to shoot the video for Smashproof's third and final single, "Ordinary Life" with long time MTC family member/early supporter/video director, Mr Andrew Morton. We are very happy to have him back for this clip and i am eager to see the results of our reunion.

The remixes of "Ordinary Life" are turning out great. We have a few surprises for you on this one and i can't wait until i can share them.

Kidz In Space's first teaser video for "Ocean Of Drugs" is good to go. We are now just waiting on the final mix to come in, so we can get the track up on iTunes in conjunction with the release of the video. Tim Van Dammen has taken over on all of the KIS visuals and i am very happy with the results thus far. In the meantime KIS are putting the final touches on their debut E.P and are hopefully coming up with an E.P/album title as we speak.

We have been working with a young act that i think shows a lot of promise so far and we will be hopefully adding him to the roster should he really start to develop.

We are also looking at signing a very established artist shortly, fingers crossed that this one comes together.
